The majority of the rural population of Nicaragua lives in poverty. The climate crisis makes their precarious situation even worse.

The challenges for smallholder families in Nicaragua are manifold. SWISSAID works closely with civil society organisations to support them. Access to seeds and water is crucial. We are building up knowledge and resources in the area in order to empower young people and women, underpin agroecological farming and enable people to adapt to climate change.
