2023 in figures

In 2023, SWISSAID was able to implement projects in its nine partner countries worth around 18 million Swiss francs in its nine partner countries.

  • These projects have helped to improve the living conditions of 383,667 women, men and children in our partner countries.
  • Agroecology: 41,057 people have access to regional seeds. This is the key to preserving biodiversity and thus to the future of our agriculture and food supply.
  • Climate and water: 60 water reservoirs with a distribution network in various villages, schools and fields were built last year. An invaluable asset, especially in times of climate crisis with periods of drought and heat.
  • Gender equality: 10,226 women achieved economic independence in 2023 with the support of SWISSAID. As a result, women are not only finding a sustainable way out of hunger and poverty for themselves, but also for their families.
  • 744 tons of food were distributed in emergency aid projects in Niger and Chad in 2023. We also supported people in need in Myanmar. Thanks to our long-standing roots in the countries, the crisis missions were quick, efficient and benefited those most in need.

These successes were made possible by the professional work of 199 employees around the world made possible. At the same time, we were able to thank our loyal 47,786 donors who have donated over 14 million francs donated.

A huge thank you!

We would like to thank you, dear donors, for your support.

We would also like to thank all the people who have remembered us in their wills. Our thanks also go to numerous companies and suppliers who provided their services at particularly favorable rates or free of charge. Special thanks also go to all the institutions, cantons, companies, foundations, cities and municipalities, parishes and associations that have supported us, whether recently or for years!

Thanks to you, we can continue to work for a world in which there is no more hunger and in which even the poorest people can lead a healthy, dignified and self-determined life. We are helping to improve the living conditions of 383,667 men, women and children around the world. In doing so, we always respect and protect the environment in order to combat climate change.
